Lift top coffee table ..novelty or necessity?

Every living room needs a coffee table; and we all know that there’s so much more to these tables than coffee. Where do you put the tv remote? Where’s the most convenient spot to keep books and magazines within easy reach? How about food or drink? Where do you like to put your feet after a long day at work…probably up on the coffee table!!

Now let’s add another angle to the universal use of coffee tables. Being the centerpiece of a room, a coffee table has a lot of responsibility. We already know that they make great junk collectors and foot rests, but the fact that these tables are so low, limit their complete practical use. Sure, it needs to be low, otherwise we couldn’t see over it to watch tv or play the Xbox, or be able to step over it to get through a crowded room. ..But is it very useful for using you laptop computer on? ..or wolfing down a meal during a commercial break? A lift top coffee table provides a unique solution to a basic coffee table’s shortcomings.

A lift top coffee table will turn your living room into a temporary dining room, office, or bar. When fully collapsed these coffee tables look and act like any other, but simply pulling up, and out, on the table top, will raise and extend the usable surface. Pushing it back horizontally, first, and then allowing the top to come down, will click it back into its original place. Quality will undoubtedly vary, but well made tables appear to be very durable and able to handle a decent amount of weight safely. Generally, there will be storage available underneath the lid. A distinct advantage, with a lift top table, over a hinged top, is when accessing this space. You won’t have to clear the table top to gain access to the storage space.

Some what of a novelty to some perhaps, but many will find these tables very useful, and perhaps indispensible.
