Football wallpaper

Every sports fan has their favorite team and to some extent wants to be a part of it.  As we all know, being a true sports enthusiast consists of more than watching a few games on the tube. Going to the games and watching in person, supporting team sponsored events, wagering in pools, following the stats religiously, going out and hollering in the streets after a big win, and of course collecting memorabilia from your favorite teams and players are all essential qualities of a true sports fan.

A die hard football fan wants to be surrounded with images and thoughts of their favorite teams and players.  Football wallpaper for your computer desktop is an excellent addition to help you “live” the game.  Whether its American football or soccer, many large high quality images of specific players and game shots can be downloaded either for free, or affordably.  A simple Google search for your desired team or player will reveal any available images.  Some times the image will be copyrighted and will have a watermark defacing the picture.  In these cases, often a registration to the site will be required and in many cases it will still be a free download.

So you have your favorite football wallpaper downloaded, or perhaps you have your own pictures that you’ve taken.  Applying it as a desktop background is a relatively simple procedure.  Simply open the image file for viewing, and then right clicking your mouse on the image should reveal a menu.  Select “set as desktop background,” and presto, your PC desktop will be adorned with your football wallpaper favorite.

If you are using the Windows 7 operating system, with the exception of the starter edition, you can utilize the personalization features for more wallpaper options.  The best notable feature is the desktop slideshow which will allow your PC to automatically change your background football wallpaper at selected timed intervals.  Otherwise you will be stuck with the same scene until you manually change it yourself.  This is a fantastic feature and you can create many different “playlists,” so to speak, and be treated to a different football image every time you log on.  If you are using an older versions of Windows, you can still have this slideshow feature, but you will have to download and install a third party application.

I’m using the “Powertoys wallpaper changer” tool from Microsoft for Windows XP and I’d highly recommend it. It’s a free download and using it is as simple as pointing it to a folder where you keep the football wallpaper you want to use. I have the timer set at 30 minutes, and the scene will automatically fade into another random scene surprise.

One further recommendation is to either find an image with a monthly calendar inset on the image or if you are handy with Photoshop, create it yourself.  This creates a natural monthly photo change situation and adds the convenience of having a calendar handy.
